We had a work day at the church on Saturday. 17 people showed up! That was FANTASTIC! We worked a full day and got so much accomplished. It was really encouraging. The past 2 work days have consisted of 6 volunteers...Our family! LOL.

Today's worship went well. After church we went to lunch then came home and the boys and daddy went to the movies and watched Prince Caspian. They loved it of course. I knew the girls wouldn't sit through it, Emma would be scared, and Sara just doesn't have the attention span. So, we hung out at home. We'll have to do something for the "girls" soon.

Nothing too exciting ahead this week. Thank goodness. We really need to get the boys caught up on some of their lessons. They are o.k. in most subjects, but they each have a few they need to catch up on. So hopefully we'll get caught up this week. Only 18 days of school left!

Happy Birthday Adam!

11 years ago today at 3:21 pm I gave birth to my firstborn. He is the only one of my children that wasn't born by c-section. His delivery was so difficult. I was very sick with pre-eclampsia and really don't remember lots of it. It was probably the most traumatic event that had happened to me at that point in my life but he was oh so worth it.

He's been through a lot in his 11 years. It was one month after his fourth birthday that we got his leukemia diagnosis. He had been sick for months. He was in the most intense pain and spent most of his days just struggling to walk. It was almost a relief to know it was cancer because at least we had an anwser to what was going on. His pediatrician had made me feel like an idiot numerous times. I was glad to know that I wasn't crazy and he really needed help.

Fast forward 7 years! He's an intelligent, caring, compassionate young man. He says he has a call to missions on his life. I am looking forward to the future and what God has in mind for him. I know he's going to do FANTASTIC things for the world.

Happy Birthday Adam!

His name is Freckles.

He's really cute and funny!

Adam had state testing last week. He said it was easy. It was supposed to take 4 days but he finished after 2. So that was good.

Saturday we went to the California gathering of the Choctaw Nation. It was fun. My grandparents and my brothers' family, and a cousin of mine and her kids came. We had a great time visiting.

Sunday was "ROUND UP" Sunday at church. We had a good turnout and then a BBQ and swimming at some folks from church. The kids had a blast!

Sunday night we had a confrontation with the neighbor behind us. He was very drunk and apparantley REALLY hates wiener dogs.

Yesterday Adam had scouts and was cussed out by one of the leaders. So yeah, that was nice. Still not sure how we're going to deal with that one. Scouts is held at our church so that complicates things a bit.

All the kids got haircuts yesterday. The most dramatic being Sara's.

Here she is before....

And now...

I REALLY like it!

On the rebound

We seem to have all recovered from the pinkeye infestation. We have to do one more day of eyedrops and we should be all clear. I will be so glad. Sara really doesn't like eyedrop time.

This weekend was rodeo. We all went yesterday after church. It was a fun time. The kids ate way too much junk though and got REALLY dirty. They are all a bit cranky today. I think everyone is really tired. I think they overloaded on junk too. The past few months I've been really careful with their diets, we don't buy stuff that has High Fructose Corn syrup and I try to make sure all their snacks are natural foods. So eating popsicles and cotton candy, drinking sodas and the such was a shock to them. Emma seriously screamed for Ice Cream for an hour this morning. She sounded like a devil child. She just can't handle that much artificial stuff. I used to buy Hamburger Helper once and awhile but I guess the MSG or something in it messes with her because she turns crazy after eating it.

Anyhow, today has been a lazy day. Trying to do a lot of laundry (and actually put it away) so that is keeping me busy. I could use a nap though..

Sunday School teachers meeting tonight. Should be interesting. Mike and I have been teaching all the Sunday School classes since we got here (2 years ago). I have 2nd grade and below and Mike has 3rd-6th grade. The jr high and high schoolers had a teacher for a while but we ran them off (LOL!) so they have to sit in with the adults. I remember that as a teen. Not FUN! We recently elected a SS Superintendent and she's got some new teachers lined up. I am so looking forward to either a break (please) or a new age group. My kids are sick of me LOL.

Everyone but Mike. Fun times I tell you. Poor Sara's eyes were crusted shut when she woke up this morning.

This weekend is the big Springville rodeo. Adam and his fellow Cub Scouts will be riding in the parade tomorrow afternoon and then he has to work a couple of shifts selling popcorn and ice cream. It should be fun!

Long, tiring weekend...

We had our annual Central Cal Church of the Nazarene District Assembly this weekend. It was Thurs night through Sat around noon. We really had a great time. It was a very encouraging time with our friends in ministry. One of the hardest things for me as a pastor's wife is forming close friendships within the church. I have friends but they are all other ministry families that we only get to see a few times a year. It was nice to see them this weekend.

We took all the kids with us. We had made arrangements with my parents to stay with them but they weren't able to make it back into town so we all loaded up and went. The kids did really well. I was really looking forward to a weekend alone with Mike but this was ok too. One of these days they will be grown and we'll have lots of alone time. LOL.

Now I'm looking forward to a good night of sleep. I think we'll take it easy with school tomorrow and work on getting the house back in order, mainly getting all this laundry put away!

We've been enjoying glorious weather and spending a lot of time outside. We've planted some flowers as well as some strawberries. My kids love to play in the dirt. We're hoping to plant a more substantial garden here pretty soon. I want to grow some squash and some tomatoes at least. Probably some green beans too. Yum.

Yesterday Noah was messing with the sprinkler system that hasn't been on all winter and when the sprinklers kicked on a pipe busted under the ground. There was water everywhere.! I was trying to shut of the main line but I couldn't get it. Mike finally got home (it had been something like 20 minutes) and he saved the day. He was able to fix it too. What a guy!

We had a nice Easter. Saturday before my family always has a big picnic/Easter egg hunt at a park. My cousin has 4 kids as well and her 3 youngest are the same ages as my 3 youngest and they LOVE to play together. They had a blast. So cute together. We really should get together more often so they can play. They are homeschooled as well.

Speaking of school, we enrolled Emma to start Kindergarten next year! I can't believe it's time. She is a young starter, just barely making the cutoff and if I were sending her to public school we would wait a year. She is very smart though and she is already reading small words and writes very well. I am excited for her and she can't wait.

It looks to be colder here today so we'll probably find some indoor fun stuff to do. We need to clean out the kids room so that should probably be first on our list!

Bye!

Friday

Yeah! It's Friday! We have a low-key weekend ahead too, nowhere to be and nothing really to do. Well, church of course but other than that. My dad will be in town too, so the kids will be glad to see him. We're meeting them for dinner and I think we might take the kids to see Horton Hears A Who. They are DYYYYINNG to see it.

Yesterday was a really good day. We played outside almost all day, learning all the while. We painted, talked about plant structures, looked at bugs. Fun times!

Emma Funny...

Emma is 4. We were out doing some yard work today and Noah starts yelling "A BUG, I can't remember what it's called mom!" and Emma rushes over and says all concerned "It's a BROKEN SNAIL!" It was a slug. LOL She's too funny.

Jumping back in....

Ok, so it's been what, 8 1/2 months since I posted a blog. So here I am back again.

Life is pretty good in the Curry household. We made the decision about 2 months ago to take the boys out of public school and bring them home again. It's been quite an adjustment, but we're starting to get a good groove. There were some things going on at their school and I just didn't feel right about sending them anymore.

Church keeps us so busy. I'm exhausted from it all to be honest. We really need some people to step up and take over some ministries but it's just not happening.

Ok, on the agenda today.

Get the boys lessons done.

Finish the MOUNTAIN of laundry that 6 people seem to accumulate on a daily basis.

Daily chores and such.

That's about all. Mike has Men's Bible Study tonight so he won't be home until late. Thursdays are really long days.

Bye!
